This project involved taking a selected research journal article and performing a deep dive into each section of the article. We would go through the introduction, the methodology, the findings, the discussion, and then explain how this research could be helpful in a professional or personal context.
As psychological professionals, we not only have an ethical obligation to perform empiraclly-based research, but we have an ethical obligation to understand and incorporate current scientific research into our practices. For one to be able to incorporate research into their practice, they need to be capable of digesting research articles.
This project involved a scenario where we were a research assistant tasked with creating a research plan on a selected topic. We would need to identify supporting literature, review and summarize the literature, and develop a research plan.
I found this project to be enlightening on how one actually gets started with a research project. Having never completed my own research project from start to finish, understanding the steps involved with designing a research plan was a valuable learning exersize. I connect this with the topic of Ethics because, as psychological professionals, we have an ethical obligation to perform empirically-based research.
